The Beat Goes On: Black Voices in the British Music Industry, held at the British Library

Held in celebration of the British Library’s Beyond the Bassline exhibition, The Beat Goes On: Black Voices in the British Music Industry brought together Black entrepreneurs, creatives, and academics to reflect on the legacies, challenges, and ongoing realities of Black British music.

The event created a space for critical discussion around the ways Black creatives and professionals continue to navigate the music industry, past and present. Through conversations on entrepreneurship, cultural change, and creative labour, the programme explored the forces shaping Black British music and its enduring impact on Britain’s cultural landscape.
